Pregnancy Guide for Couples: Week 17
This week, we will talk about baby registries (it’s never too early) and all the fabulous ways your baby is growing!
What’s Going on with Baby
At Week 17, your baby is the size of a hardcover book!
Can you believe that your baby is becoming even more active? It’s true! Your little one is flipping and rolling around at this point. Can you feel them yet? If not, it won’t be long until you notice those cartwheels and somersaults! Here are other ways your baby is growing:
Baby’s heart is pumping about 100 pints of blood each day.
Toenails are forming on those tiny, tiny toes!
The umbilical cord is getting stronger and thicker. By the end of your pregnancy, the umbilical cord will be a whopping 9 inches long!
What’s Going on with Mom
With only three weeks to go until you’re halfway through your pregnancy, have you considered preparing a baby registry yet? If not, you still have plenty of time! However, creating a registry during the second trimester may be the best time if you’re feeling energetic and comfortable. Here are some popular places to sign up for a baby registry:
Amazon. You can get a 10% completion discount if you're a Prime member.
Target. Comes with a welcome kit with free samples and coupons, plus 15% off remaining registry items after your due date.
Babylist. The best baby registry for adding items from any store or website.
Walmart. Receive a welcome box with free samples.
IKEA. With staged nursery rooms, you can assemble a registry in no time.

What’s going on with Partner
Registering for baby gear and postpartum items with Mom can also be fun for Dads to partake in. If you’re not sure what to add to the registry, here are some unique and practical ideas that Dad will like:
A ‘manly’ diaper bag (or one that’s more neutral)
A baby carrier that will fit Dad comfortably
Backpack hiking carrier for Dads who love the outdoors
Parenting books
Baby clothing that mentions Dad
Baby essentials kit (for Daddy Duty)
